HISTORY
One weekend on October 2006, three OFW Romblomanons working in Saudi Arabia were watching a TFC cable (The Filipino Channel) broadcast, about overseas Filipino organizations raising funds for various needy individuals & charities in the Philippines. It made a great impact on them and served as the inspiration to come up with the Kasimanwako Association.
Other Romblomanons (both overseas and based in the Philippines) were soon contacted, brainstormed thru emails, chatrooms and text messages. The proposal was met with great enthusiasm and on January 7, 2007, a Friendster account (http://www.friendster.com/36914096) was created thereby officially giving birth to the Association. Invitations were then forwarded to some more Kasimanawa's through the internet, thus having the first respondents form the core of the founding members.
KasimanwaKo was chosen as the Association's official name to emphasize the resulting unity of the members, despite coming from three different municipalities of Sibuyan Island, Romblon. The name derives from two words, "Kasimanwa" which is Ilongo dialect word for "living in the same town" and followed by the possessive pronoun "Ko" , which simply means "my."
